MOTOCROSS HAS ME HOOKED! BUDDS CREEK - RACE 1 OF THE 2007 ACR SEASON
The ride from Haverhill, MA to the Budds Creek track in MD took me just under 9 hours. The ride was totally un-eventful, as most of it was on the New Jersey Turnpike (yawn). The pictures of the bikes in the back of my truck were taken at one of the many rest stops along the Turnpike. The George Washington Bridge in NY and the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel were the 2 most interesting things along the way. My campsite this year is much inproved with the addition of an EZ-UP (big white tent). What a difference one thing can make in how comfortable you are at a campsite. I can set up camp in about 1/2 an hour now that I have all of my stuff in one big plastic tote. The races got started late on Saturday - and with 32 races to complete it was a long day. I raced in the Vintage 80's Open class and the Evolution Open class. Got a 4th in the Vintage 80's class and an 11th in the Evolution class. Both results were much better than I thought I would do - I had ZERO time on either bike. The track was well prepared, and as an added bonus we got to run the same track that will be used for the Motocross of Nations race in September of this year. The starting line was finished at 4:00 AM the day of the race by the hard working track crew. Next race will be on May 5th at Evansville Raceway in Berwick, PA. SEE YOU THERE!
Budds Creek was a great time. ACR did a fantastic job running the races - even with the addition of about 100 extra riders for the Motocross Masters Series.
