Plus a few others that I can't remember now.
The bike I chose for that year was an RM 250. The bike was great, but I found out that I did not do so well with pressure.

My first race that year was the season opener at Byron. Got 8th place (truly a gift, as the track was an ice rink). I was on top of the world. The next race was a sand track in southern Illinois. Can't remeber the name, but I do remember that I got SMOKED. I rode so slow that Dad asked what was wrong with the bike!
Well, there was a break in the season after the first 2 races. Dad got a transfer to a plant in Gallatin, TN. I could have stayed in Illinois and continued racing, but I chose to chicken out and go to Tennessee for the summer - disguising the decision as "need to work in the plant to save money for college". One of those coulda, woulda, shoulda situations in my life!
That summer I sold my RM and bought a cool Honda Ascot to run around campus with.
